Our Story
Upcycling Organic Waste into Resources
Umah Pupa started from our concern about the waste problem around us. With the abundance of waste people generate everyday, what can we do to reduce them?
Then we found out about this little creature called Black Soldier Fly larvae that could eat organic matters with an impressive time spend, and there is so much benefit that we can get from the BSF life cycle. In order to know more about their life cycle and their impact, we decided to start this in our small lab in our own backyard.
In 2023, we took a leap. We found an opportunity in Bali and started the farm altogether.

About Us
At Umah Pupa, I discovered an oasis of sustainability where biowaste transforms into valuable resources. Their commitment to upcycling, insect farming, and organic waste management is inspiring. The expansive garden offers both kids and adults a hands-on learning experience, while activities like making pizza and weaving at the traditional market foster creativity and community. Umah Pupa is not just a place, it's a transformative journey towards a greener, more enriching way of life.Come to Umah Pupa and see for yourself. Learn about sustainability while enjoying the beautiful garden and fun activities. It's a great place for families and anyone interested in a greener lifestyle.
Me and my family did some activities at Umah Pupa, it was fun and educational. It can be one of the options to fill children's time with beneficial activities. If we didn't go to Umah Pupa, maybe my kids and I wouldn't know about the importance of sorting trash and wouldn't dare to play with dirt and the larvaes. Since going to Umah Pupa, our family has become more aware of separating trash to avoid it becoming a "mountain of trash".
Umah Pupa is one of the best places for education. There, we learn about the Black Soldier Fly, an insect that can eat organic waste. Before, we weren't very familiar with that insect. We felt that the information about the Black Soldier Fly is still rare, and we just found it in Bali. It was super educational, and the team is able to explain it in detail. They also have a large and exciting outdoor space.
